Parts of Speech
Understanding the 8 parts of speech is the foundation of grammar. These include:
- Nouns – Names of people, places, things, or ideas.
- Pronouns – Words that replace nouns (e.g., he, she, it).
- Verbs – Words that express actions or states of being (e.g., run, is, jump).
- Adjectives – Words that describe nouns (e.g., beautiful, quick).

- Prepositions – Words that show relationships between a noun (or pronoun) and other words (e.g., in, on, at).
